Hey folks!
Encounter is a charismatic/pentecostal church with a rich history in the Holy Spirit. We are blessed to be affiliated with BLN (Bethel Leaders Network), an apostolic network dedicated to seeing the Goodness and Presence of God transform the nations. Nowadays we’d also fit under many other labels besides charismatic/pentecostal. We are protestant, trinitarian, non-denominational, and some would say evangelical.
Our church was founded in the mid 1980’s by a group of men and women in the Red River Valley who were set on fire for Jesus and the move of the Spirit. For the past 30+ years our church was known as “Valley Christian Fellowship” and was one of the rare torchbearers of the move of the Spirit in our area. We are privileged to have inherited the assignment to build on this foundation.
In mid to late 2019 we decided to change our name from “Valley Christian Fellowship” to “Encounter Church”. We felt like the name Encounter more uniquely described our identity, purpose, and values in this new season of ministry and vision. And we also thought it was time to modernize the name. In keeping with a more modern approach we kept it simple, and also descriptive of our brand. We are all about people encountering God and being forever changed by His love and power!
We are blessed by the rich history of Valley Christian Fellowship, and those who led and stewarded the move of the Spirit before us. But we are excited about now being Encounter, what that means to us, and the future we see for this church and the lives we get to touch!
